Tuesday, February 25th was recognized as “Texas Hispanic Judges Day” at the State Capitol by the Texas Senate and the Texas House of Representatives.

Hispanic judges from across Texas were represented by over twenty members of Texas Latinx Judges who gathered at the State Capitol. Resolutions were read and adopted in each chamber recognizing that “the more than 500 Hispanic individuals who serve on courts throughout the state exemplify the highest standards of judicial conduct and demonstrate their dedication to the people of Texas through their public service on and off the bench, which is truly an inspiration to us all.” The Resolutions further acknowledged that “the Hispanic population of Texas is at least 40 percent, yet Hispanic judges account for only 16 percent of the state’s judiciary.” Several senators and representatives thanked the judges for their public service and stressed the importance of their contributions to the Texas judiciary. The judges also enjoyed a reception the evening prior, and a breakfast hosted by Representative Ana Hernandez. We appreciate Senator Judith Zaffirini and Representative Ana Hernandez for their leadership and for introducing the resolutions in their respective chambers.
